Last week's workshop on integrating stormwater management with development was given to a packed house of Landscape architects, Urban Planners, Engineers and Economic Development professionals. The North Central Texas Council of Governments has developed an Integrated Storm Water Management (iSWM) manual for municipalities and developers.
Here we cover the history and framework for creation of the manual and the benefits of integrating stormwater management into a site's design. The increased use of Form Based Codes can create conflicts for space on a development site so we talked through a couple local best practices. The conversations about specific projects and the innovative tools designers are using were incredibly enlightening.
